America is changing and so the education system needs to change with it. But Americans are stubborn, so to change we have to start teaching our children at an early age. Some examples would be the metric system, many years a go the legislature said we were going to convert to the metric system, but there wasn't anything done in the classroom to encourage the teaching of the metric system in the early years of schooling. Also i think we should start teaching spanish at a young age so that the next generation will know how to speak both english and spanish. The latino population is continuing to grow and the value of speaking spanish is increasing. And of course the use of technology and computers in the beginning years of school supports the need for that knowledge in later real life situations. All these examples will help prepare our students for the future.
All these examples are being taught in the classroom already but not at an early enough grade. Children learn the fastest at a young age and they don't need to relearn something is a different way. Also if we teach our students at an early age they can take it home to the parents and support the idea that this is important to the future. IF we want change to happen, we need it to start early.
